Create health that nourishes the body, mind and
spirit. The non-invasive Bowen Technique
relieves all types of pain and is so
gentle that it can be used on everyone
from newborn infants to the elderly.
Because it is a gentle hands-on
technique, the therapy may be used to
relieve day-to-day stress and enhance
over all wellness.
Although relatively new to the United
States, the Bowen Technique has been
used in Australia and other parts of the
world for over 40 years with remarkable
results. The Bowen Technique uses a
series of simple, gentle moves across
muscle and connective tissue. These
careful moves prompt the body to reset
imbalances and heal from injuries and
even long-standing complaints, promoting
relief of pain and recovery of energy.
With
multiple applications for detoxification
on both a physical and
the Bowen Technique can be used:
-
As an extremely
effective corrective
therapy to improve
rehabilitation time
regardless of how
old or recent the
injury
-
To assist
chronically ill and
disabled patients
-
To overcome sports
injuries, accidents
and other ailments
such as tennis
elbow, sprained
ankles, strained
backs, torn
hamstrings, asthma,
fibromyalgia, TMJ,
frozen shoulder,
carpal tunnel
syndrome, and a host
of other conditions
-
To release fear and
emotional stress
-
To support pre- and
post-natal care
-
To treat eczema
-
Prompt the body to
reset imbalances
-
Bring autonomic
nervous system into
balance

The Bowen Technique
was developed in Australia forty years
ago by Thomas A. Bowen (1903-1982) who
gained a reputation for being able to
help his co-workers with their aches and
pains. Because he was able to help so
many people, he opened a full-time
clinic using his method of muscle
manipulations. By 1975 he was seeing
13,000 patients per year.
The Technique may be used by health care
professionals as an adjunct to their
work; however, it is increasingly used
as a stand-alone therapy with many
practitioners maintaining their own
clinics. It represents a major advance
in the area of primary health care
healing and should be taught to all
health care professionals.
In the area of training, levels I, II,
III and certification are currently
offered throughout the year. Also,
throughout the year practice sessions
are offered to students to assist
individuals in preparing for the
certification seminars. A new
instructional manual with a whole brain
concept, multi-sensory learning approach
has been developed to clarify the Bowen
moves.
Clients should wear loose fitting
clothing.
Therapy is administered with the client
lying on a massage table.
